Phoenix Art Museum Spirit Box Brooch

The Spirit Box was created by the Molina Design Studio as a gift for the guests of the Phoenix Art Museum's 2010 Gala.

Worlds within worlds, houses within houses. The universe is a dynamic flow in which every activity, every intention, manifests itself in appropriate form. The spirit seeks both a stable home and the wings to fly; an enduring geometric stage for the ever-changing dance of organic life. Molina recognizes the Phoenix Art Museum as a microcosm in which the diverse arts, each in their unique potential, address the problems and celebrations of what it means to be human. Within this spirit box, each curator has selected an icon to represent their collections.

Jewelry is and can be much more than décor. As Master Designer Cris Olson says: "In some ways, jewelry is the most concentrated and intimate art, forming an interface between an individual and the world at large. It is more a vehicle of engagement than an applied object — it is a portable spirit house."

Pacific Symphony Pin

This limited edition, jewel encrusted Pacific Symphony pin is crafted around the Pacific Symphony's logo of four ocean waves and features a total of 32 blue sapphires. The leading edge of each of the four waves is set with a brilliant round diamond.

At the center and base of the wave are 20 diamonds in a circulating pattern. The pin was commissioned by the Pacific Symphony to celebrate the 20th year of the leadership of Maestro Carl St. Clair, hence one diamond representing each year of Maestro's service, and all together these diamonds form the beginning of the ocean wave, circulating in a spiral at the center of the pin.

This superb custom pin visually expresses the importance of the Maestro's contribution both in length of time and in importance. Each of the ten numbered pins, made of 18k white gold, displays 32 blue sapphires and 24 brilliant round diamonds in the shape of the Pacific Symphony Orchestra logo.
